Ernst Haeckel | Antilopina

from $24.00

Restored print Antilopina. Designed by Ernst Haeckel (1834 - 1919).

Today, many science books are full of detailed photos that reveal the intricate parts of plant life, but prior to the invention of photography (and macro photography), it was up to botanical illustrators and researchers to record the fascinating forms of flora and fauna. One scientist who recorded his findings with drawings is Ernst Heinrich Haeckel, a German biologist, naturalist, philosopher, and physician.

Made during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, his brilliantly colourful and highly stylised drawings, watercolours, and sketches reveal how different forms of life appear under the microscope. Although each hand-drawn organism looks like something from a science fiction book, Haeckel’s body of work sheds light on the incredible hidden intricacies of real, natural forms that inhabit the Earth.

Available as an artist print reproduction in 5 standard metric sizes.

  • • If you've developed a fondness for one of our restored images and possess the ideal frame or a reliable source for obtaining one, this choice is tailored for you.

    • Shortly after receiving an order, we initiate the printing process without delay, maintaining a strong commitment to quality. Our printing is conducted on 210gsm prestige matte paper that is acid-free, wood-free, and pH-neutral, utilising premium pigment inks. In essence, our paper quality is exceptional, and the advanced printing techniques lead to exceptional colour saturation.

    • The dimensions provided refer to the actual paper size, ensuring that our nine sizes are compatible with standard metric frames. For instance, an A3 print perfectly fits a standard A3 frame.

    • Every print comes with an off-white printed border positioned between the image and the paper's edge. This aesthetic addition emulates a mat board's appearance, minus the added cost. If you prefer a borderless print, kindly indicate so in the Notes section during checkout. Off-white printed border widths vary by size: A4 - 10mm; A3 - 15mm; A2 - 21mm; A1 - 30mm; A0 - 42mm.

    • When the shipping process begins, we exercise meticulous packaging practices due to our accumulated experience that has shown us how the shipping journey can sometimes be less than gentle.

    • We offer worldwide shipping for unframed prints.

  • • This choice is ideal for those who have developed an affection for one of our restored images and desire professional framing for it.

    • Following the printing process outlined for Unframed Prints above, we then collaborate with our framer to encase your print in your preferred sustainable timber frame, available in white, natural oak, chocolate oak, or black finishes.

    • The timber frames are 20mm in width and extend 5mm over the outer edges of the paper on all sides. The frame's depth measures 30mm, which is the distance from the wall to the front of the print. Please be aware that framing profiles may occasionally vary due to several factors.

    Framed Dimensions & Weights
For portrait prints, the larger dimension corresponds to the height, while for horizontal prints, it refers to the width.
    A4: Framed size: 240 x 327mm. Framed weight: 0.75kg
    A3: Framed size: 327 x 450mm. Framed weight: 1.15kg
    A2: Framed size: 450 x 624mm. Framed weight: 1.9kg
    A1: Framed size: 624 x 871mm. Framed weight: 3.25kg
    A0: Framed size: 871 x 1219mm. Framed weight: 5.8kg

    • Our framer favours cast acrylic over glass due to its lightweight nature, high durability, superior optical clarity, and long-term safeguarding against harmful UV rays, ensuring your print's protection.

    • Frames are provided in a ready-to-hang condition.

    • Dispatched direct to you in professional packaging

    • Framed prints are not available for shipping outside of Australia.

    • Please be aware that hanging framed prints in direct sunlight may cause moisture issues. If you have a sunlit area, we recommend considering a stretched canvas frame as an alternative.

  • • This choice is tailored for those who favour a textured image without the inclusion of a frame.

    • We utilise Bauhaus bright white canvas with a weight of 380gsm, known for its exceptional bright white matte surface that ensures precise colour control and a distinct texture.

    • The canvas consists of a blend of cotton and polyester. The addition of polyester enhances tension across the image, preventing any sagging over time.

    • Subsequently, the printed canvas is stretched over a sturdy pine stretcher bar, sourced from planted forests, ensuring both strength and environmental friendliness.

    • We exclusively employ museum-grade and acid-free finishing materials.

    • Stretched canvas prints are limited to shipping within Australia.

  • • Mountains Vintage is an Australian-owned and operated entity, and all our prints hold the official endorsement of the Australian Made Campaign.

    • All artworks undergo professional printing and framing processes right here in Australia, carried out by local suppliers who share the same meticulous commitment to quality that we do.

    • With over 25 years of experience as accomplished graphic designers, we possess a deep understanding of image quality. If we cannot restore an image to the necessary standards for enlargement, it won't find a place in our collection.

    • We have a clear grasp of our customers' needs and hold their respect in high regard. Our approach is to treat you in the same manner we would want to be treated.

    • Our goal is to offer high-quality prints and canvas art at an affordable cost, ensuring that individuals from diverse backgrounds can relish these captivating vintage images within their personal spaces.

    • Our objective isn't to construct a vast empire or chase after the most Instagram likes. Our aim is simple: to persist in what we've cherished for years, excel beyond many others in the industry, and consistently take pride in our accomplishments.
